The Teachers’ Classroom Tools Grants Program was established within the Ohio County Community Foundation in 1999 to provide grants to teachers within the Rising Sun School Corporation. Formally known as Thank-A-Teacher Grants, the Teachers’ Classroom Tools Program was created to provide grants for teaching tools that enhance classroom learning or curriculum. Teachers can request up to $500 and may work together and combine their grant request for more expensive projects or programs.

A total of $9,572.92 was awarded during 2016 to the following teachers:

Ohio County Elementary-Middle School Grants

  • Karen Chase – Purchase of Preschool Literature and Play/Learn Kitchen Set. $477.84
  • Laura McClure – Purchase of groceries for cooking in the classroom and attend outings to learn behavior skills. $500
  • Ginger Meyers – Update of spring roll maps and Jr. Scholastic magazines. $500
  • Katherine McMonigle – Purchase of art supplies. $999.08
  • Jessica Peelman – Purchase of 2 mini I-Pads for Centers Learning in Classroom. $490.06
  • Christina Rumsey – Purchase of VHS to DVD Conversion Recorder and equipment. $500
  • Barb Smith, Carrie Lozier, Jared Tucker, and Julie WilsonPurchase of equipment for elementary PE classes. $2,000
  • Candy Southard – Purchase of items for the Scholar Dollar Classroom Store. $500
  • Amy Strunk – Purchase of computer apps – Splash Math, Ready Test A-Z, Writing A-Z and 32 Privacy Sheilds. $500
  • Tammy Weaver – Purchase of groceries for cooking in the classroom and attend outings to learn behavior skills. $500

  • Andrea Levi – Purchase of 4 triple Beam Balances for Chemistry Classes. $470
